In university education, the Vall d’Hebron Teaching Unit of
the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona increased the num-
ber of degree programmes taught at the hospital to three:
medicine, nursing and biomedicine. The hospital accepts
residents from schools specializing in nursing, pharmacy,
nutrition and dietetics, physiotherapy and vocational the-
rapy, and also offers different Master’s and doctoral pro-
grammes. About 750 students did approximately 250,000
hours of practical training.
In 2011, new teaching units were certified for specialized
healthcare training in immunology and paediatric nursing,
with one and 15 places made available, respectively. In these
specialities, the hospital is the centre with the most certi-
fied places in Spain.
The hospital also continued to maintain its ability to attract
new professionals from Spain and Catalonia.
With its 140 activities, the hospital continues to be one of
the centres that offers the most continuous training activi-
ties in Catalonia. 140 professionals participated in training
sessions at the hospital lasting an average of three months.
